My rotten flower
Someday you’ll look in mirrors
See flower petals dried to dust
The colors faded, brown
A work of dirt and rust.
What once you spurned so easily
Will be a dream you’ll wish returned
You’ll wonder what there could have been
If bridges you’d not burned
Someday when things begins to fall
Dark clouds will gather up above
Your heart will cry in loneliness
And wonder why you spurned such love
Memories shall be your lot
To keep you company at night
But none to hold you in his arms
To keep your wings in lasting flight
And those will be the times some day
That you will think of me once more
Wish that things were different now.
You are banished forevermore.
When last of petals falls to the ground
The bugs of spring your nectars flee
You’ll think back to what meant most
And on those eves you’ll think of me
